Pleather-able Fashion

If the title didn’t make you sound like Mike Tyson, I don’t know what will.

Pleather – otherwise known as fake leather, is a fabric that is slowly on the rise in the Indian Fashion scene. With the country immersed in organic fabrics, from banana fiber to cotton, jute and even hemp fashion seems to do well in covering its carbon footprint.

However, leather as a fabric hasn’t yet realized its captivating ability within the industry. Of course, bags and shoes are women’s best friends made of leather, but Winter of 2015 has rather a variety of leather based ensembles that are in trend and are known making heads turn.

Now, since the manufacture of leather is harmful to the environment and people who are employed in the production and also cruel to animals, indo-western fashion has taken a turn for the best by beginning to innovate with faux leather.

If you’re a responsible fashionista, here are a couple tips to help you differentiate between real and faux leather. The smell is more pungent for real leather and comprises of a more uneven texture. Faux leather is machine made and so contains a more even texture and sometimes rougher than the real thing.

To put it briefly, pleather bears many a benefit ranging from environmental related to affordability. It can even be used in bulk quantities and cause significantly less harm. Pleather is consistent in color, versatile and very easy to sew and drape with.
