SYNAPSE was an innovative collection of women’s vests that was based on the trend research of the Spring/Summer season of 2015. SYNAPSE was generally meant to express the basic nature of human beings and their primary need to communicate and connect with others. Keeping those in mind as keywords, I began to develop unique patterns that signified the nervous system of the human body, particular the dendrites and the synaptic structure of a human nerve.

My aim in this project was to develop a unique set of surfaces that hadn’t been seen around in the Indian market. Hence, I based my study on surveys that I had taken of women from the ages of 18 – 25.

The SYNAPSE vest collection primarily comprises of the use of Chanderi cotton, and polyester cotton mixes. The vests are embellished with felt applique and other surface manipulation techniques have been keenly applied throughout, such as, patterned tucks and tie-dye methods. The process of developing this collection was that of a fun one and challenging too. The objective was to try straying away from what people were used to and yet still offering them a product that they would still be interested in.

A big THANKS to my dear friend, Ramya Ramachandran who helped model for this collection, and for bearing with the heat that day.
