Living the Dream with POCO & JACKY

“Dream Big”, they say. “Aim for the moon”, they say and in such case one does achieve their goals, life becomes almost surreal.

POCO & JACKY is one such dream. It’s every designer’s dream, in fact. Born in Imphal, Manipur; little did two souls know that they would grow up to live the life they wished for.

“I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INTERESTED IN FASHION DESIGN. INITIALLY, WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, IT WAS JUST MY FASCINATION WITH THE GLAMOROUS ASPECT OF IT. BUT NOW IT’S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I LOVE DESIGNING” – PRATHONI

“FASHION HAS ALWAYS GIVEN ME THAT SENSE OF LIVING FOR. IT’S SOMETHING I RESPECT, EXPERIMENT WITH AND GET INSPIRATION FROM. MY MOTHER HAS UNKNOWINGLY INFLUENCED ME TO GET INTO FASHION DESIGNING AS PROFESSION – I USED TO HELP HER MAKE CLOTHES WHEN I WAS LITTLE AND WOULD THEN USE THE LEFT OVER FABRIC TO MAKE ‘DESIGNER WEAR’ FOR MY SISTER’S BARBIE DOLLS. Jacky Laishram from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai and Prathoni Yengkhom from Fashionista, Delhi collaborated in the year 2014 to give the world of Indian Design a new contemporary touch. And as wit and hard work would have it, they are rising to fame.

The creative pair officially launched their eponymous label, POCO & JACKY, at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2014 with their debut Autumn/Winter collection. What can only be described as pure passion for design, Prathoni and Jacky have definitely sewn their way into the youthful silhouettes of today.
